Homeownership gives us all the feels.

It turns out homeowners place more value in the emotional equity from owning a home over the financial equity. According to Bank of America’s 2019 Homebuyer Insight Report 59% of respondents favored homeownership as a place where they make memories compared to the 42% that favored homeownership for it’s financial investment.

The feelings didn’t stop with the memory making, 79% of respondents said they are more emotionally attached to their home than they anticipated. Another 69% said it would be difficult to move from their home because of the memories made there.

The report also found that homeownership overall creates a greater sense of happiness with 93% of homeowners saying that ownership has led to greater happiness than renting. 79% of homebuyers surveyed even went as far as saying that owning a home has made them a better person.

Compared to prospective homebuyers, current homeowners reported higher satisfaction with many areas of life. This included the quality of their social life, their financial well-being and their life overall.
